
Paseo Verde broke a scoreless tie with five runs in the fifth inning, defeating Soundview (Tacoma, Washington) 5-0 to advance in the Little League World Series at Lamade Stadium in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Paseo Verde will play the winner of Bayonne Central (New Jersey) and Davenport Northwest (Iowa) on Wednesday, with the winner advancing to the U.S. championship game.
Shortstop Logan Edwards scored the game’s first run following an error from Tacoma catcher Evan Yarbrough after advancing to third on a wild pitch.
Paseo Verde opened the fifth with back-to-back bunts that resulted in base hits. They scored all four runs in the fifth.
Carsynn Meyer had an RBI single, and Owen Guzman went 2-for-3.
Starting pitcher Brooks McFarland overcame a 33-pitch first inning — that included three walks to load the bases — to throw 87 pitches across five scoreless innings while striking out five.
McFarland didn’t allow a hit through the first four innings.
