Two police unions have sent a cease-and-desist letter to sitting Henderson City Councilmember Carrie Cox, demanding she stop using their insignia on campaign materials, billboards and her website.

Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers Executive Director Andrew Regenbaum and Henderson Police Supervisors Association President Charles Hedrick sent the letter to Cox on Saturday, accusing the politician of misleading the public while also retracting any past endorsements.

“Indicating that you have our local police endorsements is false and represents a factual misrepresentation to the community,” the letter states.

The letter states the unions saw false or misleading signs at Saturday’s candidate forum at the Henderson Heritage Park Senior Center, near Burkholder Boulevard and South Racetrack Road.

A message left for Cox requesting comment was not immediately returned.

The letter comes as Cox campaigns for re-election to represent Henderson’s Ward 3.

Cox last won election in 2022. Her current term ends on Jan. 5, 2027.

In November, she faces off against Jennifer Atlas in the general election. Both candidates advanced to the general election after coming in the top-2 spots in the primary election. Atlas received 4,387 votes, or 38.3%, while Cox received 3,516 votes, or 30.7%, beating out Annette Dawson Owens and Leroy Hood.

This is a developing story. Check back for more updates.
