Rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza is expected to see plenty of action Thursday when the Las Vegas Raiders visit the Houston Texans in their second preseason game.
“He’s going to get lots of reps this preseason,” coach Klint Kubiak said. “He needs every one of them.”
Mendoza was 10 of 16 for 97 yards and a touchdown in his debut during a 27-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in the preseason opener.
Many of the team’s younger players will also get extended looks on both sides of the ball as some try to earn more playing time and others hope to just land a place on the roster.
Plenty of eyes will be on the young players along the offensive line and in the secondary after some up and down moments in last week’s loss to the Cardinals and joint practices against the Texans.
