SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Nevada is going back to Williamsport.
Paseo Verde is headed to the Little League World Series after a 9-2 win over Montana in the Mountain Region championship at Al Houghton Stadium on Friday.
Pitcher Owen Guzman threw five scoreless innings and struck out nine while carrying a no-hitter into the top of the fourth.
Left fielder Jace Ward had two hits, including a two-run, bases-loaded double that kickstarted a four-run inning in the bottom of the third that broke the game open.
This is Nevada’s fourth consecutive trip to the Little League World Series.
Paseo Verde will try to recreate the magic Summerlin South made last year when they became the first team from the state to win the United States championship.
The Little League World Series begins Wednesday in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
