The 28-year-old man who critically injured a family visiting from the United Kingdom in a hit-and-run car crash has pleaded guilty.
Gavin Caci struck a family on the sidewalk by an intersection close to the Las Vegas Strip on Feb. 8. He was driving with a blood alcohol content of .22 percent, which is three times the legal limit, prosecutors previously said.
The rear-view camera of Caci’s 2026 Tesla Model Y showed his car drifting onto a sidewalk near Harmon Avenue and Audrie Lane before colliding with parents Luke and Jessica Sadler and their child 2-year-old child, Isla, who was in a stroller, according to District Court records. After the impact, Caci drove away and was later found by officers at a Topgolf parking lot.
The mother and her child were left with life-threatening injuries, including brain bleeding. The child also suffered from a fractured skull and broken femur. The father sustained minor injuries from the crash, including ligament and soft tissue damage to his elbow. All members of the family survived and have returned to the UK.
Caci originally pleaded not guilty back in March. On Monday, the judge accepted this change of plea. Caci faces eight felonies, including DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm, reckless driving and duty to stop at scene of a crash.
Caci’s sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 13. He will remain out of custody, but will be on house arrest and must surrender his passport.
