Aces’ OT win over Fever marred by fan incident

The Las Vegas Aces’ overtime victory in Indiana on Thursday included fireworks a few quarters before Chelsea Gray’s game-winning shot.

The game was stopped for several minutes with 4:38 left in the third quarter when security escorted a woman, who was sitting in the front row directly across from the Aces bench, out through a tunnel. A few minutes later, she assisted back to her seat and two men who were seated near her were taken out.

The incident appeared to be related to words directed at Aces guard Jackie Young, who led Las Vegas with 26 points.

Young told reporters someone had been “chirping” all night and at that point, she thought he had crossed the line. Young declined to elaborate on what was said.

“Then he just made one that was a little bit too far,” she said.

The Fever issued a statement that said one fan was removed: “Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses. Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct, the fan was not removed from the arena, but elected to leave. We consider the matter closed.”

Associated Press contributed to this report.
