Max Meylor totaled 126 yards of offense — including team highs of 63 passing and 63 rushing — and threw for three touchdowns to help Arizona end the Knight Hawks’ reign as Indoor Football League champions with a 47-36 win in a Western Conference semifinal Sunday at Lee’s Family Forum.
The third-seeded Rattlers (12-5) matched the 45 plays from scrimmage by the second-seeded Knight Hawks (12-5) but were outgained 226-201 in yards of offense. However, Arizona held a 10:32 edge in time of possession and took the lead for good with 4:47 left in the first half.
Jayden de Laura passed for 122 yards and two TDs and ran for a score for the Knight Hawks, who beat the Rattlers 56-42 on May 3 in Week 8 of the regular season and 48-44 in the IFL Cup title game May 24.
Arizona next plays at top-seeded San Diego (14-3), a 54-47 winner over fourth-seeded Tucson (7-10), in the West final.
