A homeless pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in downtown Saturday has died, local law enforcement said.
The Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a crash at Washington Avenue just east of the D Street frontage road of Interstate 15. According to a Highway Patrol release, a white 2005 Ford F-250 pickup was traveling eastbound on Washington Avenue when a black 2017 Honda HR-V Hatchback began a right turn in front of the Ford. The Ford struck the Honda, running both vehicles off the roadway.
The Ford drove into a decorative rock area, where it struck three pedestrians, the release said. The Honda also struck one of the three pedestrians, who the Highway Patrol said “inhabited” the rock area on the right shoulder.
All three pedestrians were transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.The Highway Patrol said it was notified Tuesday that one of the pedestrians died at the hospital. Both drivers were not medically transported and cooperated with investigators.
This was the 39th fatal crash under the Highway Patrol’s South Command and the 42nd traffic-related fatality.
