Casinos end fiscal year 2.6% ahead of last year’s revenue total

Nevada casinos finished the 2025-26 fiscal year 2.6 percent ahead of last year’s gaming win totals despite a flat performance in June, the Nevada Gaming Control Board reported Tuesday.

An industry analyst contends that baccarat play, the highly volatile table game favored by high-rollers, may have been affected in Nevada by players being distracted by the World Cup soccer tournament.

“We think the decline in baccarat volumes may be linked to the World Cup, as other baccarat-heavy global destination gaming markets such as Macao and Singapore were also notably slow in June,” industry analyst Daniel Politzer said Tuesday in a note to investors.

The state’s 449 largest casinos reported gaming win of $1.344 billion in June, 0.8 percent ahead of the 2024-25 total, concluding the current fiscal year at $16.047 billion.

Every Southern Nevada market showed higher totals this year over last year, with Strip revenue up 2 percent to $8.953 billion, downtown Las Vegas up 2.9 percent to $962.6 million and the Boulder Strip up 3.6 percent to $1.01 billion.

Mesquite, by percentage, had the largest increase of the eight Southern Nevada markets monitored at 6.6 percent to $207.2 million.

Statewide, the submarket with the best percentage increase was South Lake Tahoe, up 8.9 percent to $259.6 million.

But the worst submarket performance – and the only one that performed worse than a year ago – was just across the lake at North Lake Tahoe, down 7.9 percent to $23.5 million.

The rest of Southern Nevada’s submarkets had better totals than last year with North Las Vegas up 4.2 percent to $302.3 million, Laughlin up 1.2 percent to $492 million, and outlying Clark County, which includes portions of west Henderson and southwest Las Vegas up 0.5 percent to $1.932 billion.

Generally, Northern Nevada submarkets had a good June, with double-digit percentage increases recorded in the submarkets of Washoe County, Sparks and Reno, which had the greatest increase by percentage, 20.3 percent, to $81.6 million for the month.

For the month of June, seven of the 20 submarkets reported less revenue than the prior year with Clark County, the Las Vegas Strip, Laughlin, outlying Clark County, North Lake Tahoe, Elko County and Wendover all showing less revenue than in June 2025.

Tax collections based on percentage fees were off to subpar start with July collections of June revenue down 7 percent to $81.6 million.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is expected to release visitation statistics later Tuesday.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
