The Athletics placed infielder Joshua Kuroda-Grauer on the 10-day injured list Tuesday after he underwent surgery for a ruptured testicle, the club announced.

Kuroda-Grauer suffered the injury in Monday’s win over the Arizona Diamondbacks when he fouled a pitch off himself in the fifth inning. The rookie stayed in the game and singled during the same at-bat but was replaced in the bottom of the sixth inning.

He underwent emergency surgery later that evening at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix.

The 23-year-old Kuroda-Grauer was off to a hot start after making his MLB debut June 29, batting .417. He hit his first big league home run in the second inning Monday against the Diamondbacks.

The A’s also placed reliever Mark Leiter (right hip impingement) on the 15-day injured list retroactive to July 19.

Right-handed pitcher Hayden Juenger and infielder Max Muncy were recalled from the Las Vegas Aviators. Muncy went 7-for-20 with two home runs and five RBIs in five games after being optioned to the Aviators on July 8.
