Maxx Crosby is a rookie again with the Las Vegas Raiders at training camp. Sort of.
Speaking Tuesday on his podcast “The Rush” in advance of his eighth season with the Raiders, Crosby announced he’s joining the rookies in reporting to camp Thursday. More than six months removed from the surgical procedure with which he repaired his torn left meniscus, the defensive end said he’s on track to practice without physical restrictions when camp begins.
“I’ll be out there for camp to start. I’ll be out there Day 1,” Crosby told friend and co-host Brogan Roback. “I think the first time on the field is Friday for like an hour or something, and I will be out there, no restrictions. Able to do what I do, and I’m so f——-g excited about it.”
Crosby also said the Raiders will limit his workload early in camp.
“We’ll be out there in the beginning,” he added. “From what I know now, it’s going to be slightly limited in the beginning. It’s a slight buildup … to get back in the swing of things. They’re going to have a plan for me. But yeah, I’m back and I plan to be better.”
Crosby said he couldn’t walk for two months after surgery, rehabilitation the last several months at his team’s headquarters in Henderson. He said he’s reporting to camp with the rookies because he’s “coming off an injury” but noted his excitement given his relative inactivity.
“I’m back on the field this morning, doing change of direction, f——-g rolling, bro,” Crosby said. “I feeling incredible, bro. So I’m super excited about that, feeling like myself, the best version of myself, and just doing what I love most and it’s been incredible so far.”
Crosby played through his torn meniscus for more than half of 2025, finishing the season with Pro Bowl honors (for the fifth time consecutively), 10 sacks and 28 tackles for loss. The Raiders agreed to trade Crosby in March to the Ravens for two first-round draft picks, but Baltimore backed out of the deal amid concerns that followed his physical examination.
On his podcast, Crosby mentioned the “chaos, adversity, the whole nine” he experienced during the offseason, but once again noted it’s his best to date: “It’s been the best offseason for sure. I’ve grown so much in so many ways. … I’ve been itching (to get back on the field). Didn’t even get to do OTAs. I had to sit out like a sad puppy on the side, just watch. Finally get back out there, get an early start, which I’m fired up about, get a head start with the rookies. So, I’ll be out there getting to it. Just extremely blessed and excited.”
