The Vegas Golden Knights’ 10th season schedule was unveiled on Thursday. They’ll begin the 2027 season on Sept. 29 against the Chicago Blackhawks and play an expanded 84-game schedule for the NHL regular season.
Here are some thoughts on the path ahead for the Knights:
Schedule thoughts
Even with the two extra games, it’s a more balanced slate than last year when the NHL accommodated the Winter Olympics in February.
The Knights have eight back-to-backs, with their first coming on Oct. 12-13 at Minnesota and Nashville.
Four games is the longest road trip. The Knights will have five of them. The first includes their second back-to-back at Boston and Pittsburgh (Nov. 2-3), followed at Detroit (Nov. 5) and Buffalo (Nov. 8).
Stanley Cup Final rematch
The Carolina Hurricanes will return to T-Mobile Arena on Dec. 21 for the first time since defeating the Knights in the Stanley Cup Final.
It will be the Knights’ last home game before the Christmas break.
The second meeting will be in Raleigh on Jan. 17. The Knights will play the new-look Florida Panthers the day prior.
That will conclude another four-game road trip that starts in Washington on Jan. 12.
Toughest stretch
There won’t be much time for the Knights to take in the Stadium Series festivities.
The Knights are playing the Dallas Stars at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Feb. 20. Prior to that, they’ll wrap up a three-game homestand Feb. 18 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
They’ll have one travel day to Dallas, play in the home of the Dallas Cowboys and then head to Denver to face the Colorado Avalanche on Feb. 22. They’ll return home for a two-game homestand against Florida and Anaheim.
The Knights will go right back on the road for a four-game East Coast trip starting at Philadelphia on March 2, followed by the New York/New Jersey trip from March 4-7.
Dorofeyev returns
Pavel Dorofeyev will play his first game at T-Mobile Arena as a visitor on March 13 when the New York Rangers come to town.
Dorofeyev was traded to the Rangers on June 26 for two first-round picks and a third-round pick. New York signed the Knights’ leading goal scorer from the last two years to a seven-year, $77 million contract before he hit restricted free agency.
The Knights will see Dorofeyev six days prior on March 7 at Madison Square Garden.
Other notables
— The Knights will not play a Black Friday home game for the first time since the 2020-21 season. That campaign didn’t start until January because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Knights will play at San Jose on Black Friday, then at home against the Montreal Canadiens the next day.
— The Knights will have a home back-to-back against Dallas on Nov. 17 and 19.
— The Knights will play their annual Nevada Day game on Oct. 30 against New Jersey, and will host their New Year’s Eve game against the St. Louis Blues.
— The Knights will end the season with a home-and-home against the Los Angeles Kings — at Crypto.com Arena on April 8, and the season finale and home finale on April 10.
