The Athletics are calling up third base prospect Tommy White from the Aviators, according to reports.
White, ranked the No. 7 prospect in the A’s organization by MLB Pipeline, will join the team in Sacramento, California, ahead of their series against the Washington Nationals.
The A’s designated veteran right-handed starter Aaron Civale for assignment. In 16 games (15 starts), Civale was 5-7 with a 5.42 ERA.
In 55 games with the Aviators, White hit .303 with 9 home runs and 47 RBIs.
The Athletics selected White in the second round of the 2024 draft out of LSU, and he quickly rose through the organization.
Known more for his bat, White has also steadily improved his defense. White has improved his fielding percentage this year from .921 in Double-A Midland to .956 in Triple-A Las Vegas.
Also Wednesday, the Athletics recalled left-handed pitcher Brady Basso (4-2, 5.12 ERA in 22 games, including 2 starts, 31 Ks in 33⅓ innings) from Las Vegas and selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Yunior Tur (1-0, 4.41 ERA in 27 games, including 5 starts, 64 Ks in 51 innings).
The Athletics also optioned right-handed pitcher Mason Barnett, catcher Brian Serven and first baseman Joey Meneses to the Aviators.
