
In your front-page of Sunday story (“Why am I voting?”), Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley is quoted as saying, “The frustration I have is the lack of participation in our voting process.” In Nevada, it is so easy to vote, the mayor lamented. It is difficult to vote intelligently. Universal mail ballots do not make it any easier to study the candidates, decipher the political lies and wade through the corruption. Yes, the Nevada system does allow uninformed voters an easy path to cast a ballot. We need to ask ourselves, however: Are uniformed ballots worth counting?
