Police say they have a suspect in custody in connection with the beating death of a man last week outside a business in the central Las Vegas Valley.

Shiloh Leutu, 38, was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for open murder-victim older person, according to a Metropolitan Police Department release.

The Clark County coroner’s office Monday identified the victim as Scott Dennis, 60. His cause and manner of death were still pending, the agency said.

Police were called just before 6:20 a.m. Thursday about an unresponsive man who had just been in a physical altercation in the 900 block of East Sahara Avenue, Metro said at the time.

Responders found the man on the ground and taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

Detectives learned that the victim and a friend were in a line waiting for a business in the area to open. A man approached the friend and started yelling at her. The victim, according to authorities, stepped in, and the man hit him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

A second man jumped in and the two men continued to beat the victim until the crowd could stop them, police said.

Both suspects fled the area on foot before officers arrived.
