Reigning WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson was selected as one of 10 starters for the WNBA All-Star Game, the league announced Thursday, earning her eighth consecutive All-Star selection.
Wilson is the Aces’ lone starter for All-Star Weekend, which is scheduled for July 24-25 in Chicago.
Her eighth selection ties her for the fifth-most appearances in WNBA history. She has earned the honor every season since entering the league as the No. 1 overall pick in 2018.
The four-time league MVP leads the WNBA in scoring at 25.7 points per game while helping the Aces rank among the league’s top three in scoring (90.7), rebounding (35.3), field-goal percentage (48.8) and blocks (5.4) per game.
Joining Wilson in the starting frontcourt are Indiana Fever’s Aliyah Boston, Minnesota Lynx’s Natasha Howard, Dallas Wings’ Jessica Shepard, New York Liberty’s Breanna Stewart and Golden State Valkyries’ Gabby Williams.
The backcourt features Indiana’s Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, Dallas’ Paige Bueckers, New York’s Sabrina Ionescu and Minnesota rookie Olivia Miles.
Starters were selected through a weighted voting system in which fans accounted for 50 percent of the vote, while current players and a media panel each accounted for 25 percent. Fan voting was conducted June 11-27.
Aces guards Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray remain eligible for selection when the league’s head coaches choose the 12 reserves. Coaches will submit ballots featuring three guards, five frontcourt players and four players regardless of position.
