A motorcycle crash in the south valley resulted in the death of a passenger and the hospitalization of the motorcycle’s driver Saturday, police said.
The 2021 Harley-Davidson Road Glide motorcycle was passing vehicles on the right shoulder of West Cactus Avenue just after 6:45 p.m. when a vehicle made a right turn into a private drive, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
Metro said the Harley veered to the right, leaving the roadway and drove onto the sidewalk just east of South Cameron Street. Collisions with multiple fixed objects ejected the passenger before the motorcycle came to a rest, lodged between a tree and a brick retaining wall.
The driver, a 43-year-old man, was transported to University Medical Center’s Trauma Center with serious injuries. He showed no signs of imparement, police said. The passenger, a 40-year-old woman, was beyond medical resuscitation and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was booked in abstentia at Clark County Detention Center on reckless driving charges.
This crash marks the 56th traffic-related fatality of 2026 in Metro’s jurisdiction. It remains under investigation.
