Please inform columnist Victor Joecks that the reason France has fewer air conditioners than Las Vegas is because the average July high temperature in Paris has been 78 degrees, and in Las Vegas it is has been 105. Las Vegas has always been uninhabitable in the summer without air conditioners. Paris is becoming uninhabitable without them.
Perhaps Mr Joecks should analyze why the need for air conditioning in France is increasing. Is it because the air is hotter than ever in Europe, and Europe has not noticed? I am reasonably certain that, after his analysis, Mr. Joecks will blame French socialists or Al Gore.
Until he and others of his ilk wake up to the reality that mankind is responsible for the heat — and only mankind can find the solution — he will continue to wonder why it’s hotter outside.
