The Vegas Golden Knights didn’t start the day with a first-round pick in the NHL Draft, but found their way back in to select Finnish defenseman Juho Piiparinen with the 29th selection.
Piiparinen is a 6-foot-2, 204-pound defenseman who had three points in 29 games with Tappara of Liiga, the top league in Finland.
Piiparinen, 17, is the first defenseman the Knights have taken in the first round since selecting Erik Brannstrom with the 15th pick in 2017.
The Knights moved back into the first round, acquiring the 26th pick from the New York Rangers in the blockbuster trade for Pavel Dorofeyev.
They traded that pick to the Montreal Canadiens to move down two spots, and added a third-round pick next year.
The Knights moved down one more spot and picked up a fourth-round pick in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks.
This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
