I read your June 11 article about the lady who rung the duckling Daffy’s neck (“Woman accused of snatching duck from Venetian fountain, abusing it”). I agree this is animal cruelty. I also agree that the cockfights and pitbull fights for profit are a blatant disregard for animals, and those who engage in such activities should be punished by the law.
So in the heat of a Las Vegas summer, shouldn’t the owners who let their cats run at large (tagged and licensed) also be considered negligent? Wouldn’t this be animal cruelty as well?
Animal cruelty doesn’t need to be extreme — it can also be subtle.
