I assume I am not the only person who is tired of the ads that caution homeowners about the importance of water conservation. They raised our water prices and fine us for using what they determine to be an unallowable amount of water. As a result, trees have died, most homes no longer have lawns and many are left with whatever landscaping comes naturally, making neighborhoods look run down.
Apparently local officials and developers have not gotten the same message. New housing developments have not slowed down and more are planned for the future. Resorts continue to have lavish landscaping with multiple pools. Shopping centers are expanding throughout the valley.
It is past time to halt development in the valley until we solve the problem of a diminishing water supply without putting the responsibility on homeowners.
