A 22-year-old Las Vegas man is accused of fatally shooting his father inside an east valley apartment with his mother and grandmother inside.
Bishop Deshotel, 22, is accused of pulling a gun on Peter Deshotel during a dispute at the east Las Vegas Valley apartment complex where the suspect lived with his grandmother.
The Metropolitan Police Department said Peter Deshotel had moved into the apartment, near East Sahara and South Eastern Avenues, because he had nowhere to stay.
On Tuesday afternoon, he was sleeping in the grandmother’s room when Bishop Deshotel began arguing with his mother, who had come to visit, according to the report.
After Peter Deshotel and the grandmother tried to calm the situation, police said the father and son then engaged in a fight.
The mother briefly left the apartment, but returned to retrieve her phone, police said.
The father and son prepared to step outside, and as Bishop Deshotel slipped on his shoes, he turned to his mother.

“This has been a long time coming,” she said he told her.
According to detectives’ interviews with Bishop Deshotel, the two often fought because of their estranged relationship, which the son attributed to Peter’s substance abuse problems.
Police said Peter Deshotel grabbed brass knuckles, which the son described as having spikes.
“You want to bring weapons,” the son said, according to the mother. “I got a weapon, too.”
He told police that he went to his room and retrieved a gun from under his pillow.
Peter Deshotel followed him and stood in the doorway. As Bishop Deshotel tried to leave, the father and son came face to face, the son told police. When the father tried to grab the gun, another physical altercation ensued.
During the struggle for the gun, Peter Deshotel was shot twice, police said.
Neighbors called 911 after hearing gunshots, according to the report.
When officers arrived, they found a man in his 40s suffering a gunshot wound, Homicide Lt. Robert Price previously said. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died.
Metro said Bishop Deshotel fled after the shooting but was located walking in the nearby area when he was arrested.
On Thursday, Bishop Deshotel appeared in court, where attorneys agreed to present bail arguments later. He is currently being held without bail.
