For the third day in a row, Las Vegas will see another 100-degree day.
Today’s forecast high is 104; the daily heat record is 104 (set in 1996). The average mid-May temperature is 87 degrees.
On Monday, Harry Reid International Airport reached 104, breaking the record of 103 degrees set in 1990, said Jenn Soulat of the National Weather Service. It was the hottest day of the year.
The airport recorded 100 on Sunday, 99 on Saturday and 100 on Friday, the first time Las Vegas hit the century mark in 2026.
The all-time record high temperature in May for Las Vegas is 109 (set in 2003 and 1951).
Soulat said a cooling trend will begin Wednesday as a front from the Pacific Northwest pushes through the region, causing breezy conditions in Southern Nevada. Wednesday’s forecast high is 96; the valley will stay in the 90s for the rest of the week.
2026 heat and rain
— The warmest day in April happened on the 8th, when Reid hit 91 degrees.
— Reid reached a record 98 degrees on March 25, the hottest day in March history.
— The valley saw 90 for the first time in 2026 on March 18 when Reid recorded a record 94, starting a streak of 12 days of 90 or above.
— Las Vegas reached 80 for the first time this year on Feb. 26. Reid hit 83 that day.
— The last time Reid saw measurable rain was the week of Feb. 18, when it recorded 0.24 inches. That was the first time the airport had seen rain since Jan. 8 (0.03 inches).
— The month of April felt relatively cool (only 1.3 degrees above normal) after a record-breaking March. February 2026 was the second-warmest February in the valley since record-keeping began in 1937. January 2026 was the fifth-warmest January on record.
