Palo Verde boys, Coronado girls win 5A region swim team titles — RESULTS

The Palo Verde boys and Coronado girls continued their swimming dominance by winning Class 5A Southern Region team titles Friday night at Pavilion Center Pool.

Palo Verde racked up 341 points to win the boys team title over Bishop Gorman (291.50 points) and Arbor View (276.50).

Coronado ran away with the girls team title with 501.50 points. Palo Verde was second (355 points) and Bishop Gorman finished third (355).

The 5A state meet is Saturday at Pavilion Center Pool, with the diving component to be held Friday night at UNLV’s Buchanan Natatorium.

Palo Verde has won the last 11 straight boys team state titles in the top classification. Coronado has won the last four 5A girls team state titles.

For the Palo Verde boys, Owen Robertson won the individual title in the 200-yard IM (1 minute, 50.60 seconds) and 100-yard freestyle (46.57 seconds). Robertson, a two-time first-team All-Southern Nevada selection is the defending state champion in the 200-yard IM.

The Panthers won the 200-yard medley (1:39.25) and 200-yard freestyle (1:31.13) relays.

The Coronado girls dominated the relay races, winning the 200-yard medley (1:47.65), 200-yard freestyle (1:40.94) and 400-yard freestyle (3:35.68) relays.

Ana Schulz and Grace Carrington both won multiple individual titles for the Cougars. Schulz, a three-time first-team All-Southern Nevada selection, won in the 100-yard freestyle (53.04) and 100-yard backstroke (57.69).

Carrington, a 2025 first-team All-Southern Nevada selection, won in the 50-yard freestyle (24.18) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.12). Carrington is the defending state champion in both events.

Class 4A

Desert League

Liberty swept the Class 4A Desert League boys and girls team titles Thursday at Pavilion Center Pool.

The Liberty boys racked up 424 points to win the team title over Clark (302 points) and Desert Oasis (203). The Patriots won the 200-yard freestyle (1:38.64) and 400-yard freestyle (3:31.51) relays.

The Liberty girls scored 449 points to claim the team title over Durango (271 points) and Green Valley (226). The Patriots won the 200-yard medley (2:00.57), 200-yard freestyle (1:49.42) and 400-yard freestyle (4:11.22) relays to win the team titles.

The 4A state meet will be held Thursday at Pavilion Center Pool and the diving component will be at UNLV’s Buchanan Natatorium on Friday.

Mountain League

The Shadow Ridge boys compiled 289 points to just edge Foothill (271 points) and Basic (263) to claim the 4A Mountain League boys team title. Shadow Ridge won the 200-yard medley (1:49.23) relay to help them win the team title.

Foothill won the 4A Mountain League girls team title with 372.50 points over Shadow Ridge (298) and Basic (247). The Falcons won the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.80) relay to help them win the team title.

Class 3A

Boulder City won twice at the Class 3A Southern Region meet Friday at Pavilion Center Pool, with its boys and girls winning the region team titles.

The Boulder City boys scored 524 points to run away with the title. The Adelson School was second with 310 points and Virgin Valley (212) was third. The Boulder City girls picked up 369 points to beat The Adelson School (304) and Virgin Valley (249).

The 3A state meet is Saturday at Pavilion Center Pool and the diving component will be held Friday at UNLV’s Buchanan Natatorium.
