
Mojave’s track and field team claimed the Class 4A Mountain Region boys and girls team titles Saturday at Cimarron-Memorial High School.
The Mojave boys racked up 146 points to win the Mountain Region title over Basic (129 points). Clark finished third with 69.5 points.
Mojave’s Jayden Patton won the individual title in the 100 meters (10.64 seconds), 200 meters (21.57), 110-meter hurdles (14.82) and 300 meter hurdles (39.40).
Jabari Washington added an individual title in the long jump (20’ 10¾”) for the Rattlers, which also won the 4×800-meter relay (8 minutes, 26.41 seconds).
The Mojave girls scored 126 points for the region title over Basic (89 points) and Clark (65).
Ciana Beals won individual titles in the 400 meters (57.02 seconds) and 800 meters (2 minutes, 23.16 seconds) for Mojave. Derriah Wren won individual titles in the 200 meters (25.16), 100-meter hurdles (15.79) and 300-meter hurdles (46.80) for the Rattlers, and Jesenya McGuigan claimed the pole vault title (8’, 9”).
In the 4A Desert Region meet, Green Valley won the boys team title and Canyon Springs claimed the girls team title.
Green Valley scored 167 points to claim the title over Sierra Vista (120 points) and Canyon Springs (85).
Green Valley’s Reese Leoncavallo won individual titles in the 800 (1 minute, 56.34 seconds), 1,600 (4:44.19) and 3,200 (10:35.56) meters. Leoncavallo helped Green Valley win the 4×800-meter relay (8:28.13).
Also for the Gators, Joseph Mckeon won the individual title in the pole vault (11’0”), Elyjah Cobwell won in the 110-meter (14.55) and 300-meter (39.17) hurdles, and GianCarlo Crovetto won in the long jump (23’, 2½”) and triple jump (48’, 0”).
The Canyon Springs girls amassed 129 points to win the title over Green Valley (108) and Sierra Vista (87).
For Canyon Springs, Jessica Davis won individual titles in the 100 (11.75), 200 (23.73) and 400 (56.47) meters.
Jayla Fletcher-Thrower won individual titles in the long jump (17’ 5½”) and 300-meter hurdles (47.49), and Kemya Lay won the 800 meters (2:27.91) for Canyon Springs. The Pioneers also won the 4×100-meter (47.59) and 4×200-meter (1:43.44) relays.
The 4A state meet is scheduled for Friday at Shadow Ridge and Saturday at Arbor View. The 5A Southern Region meet will also take place at Shadow Ridge on Friday and Arbor View on Saturday.
The 5A, 3A, 2A and 1A state meets are May 15 and 16 at Hug High School in Sparks.
