I heard on the TV news last week about the plan to stop people from racing and doing burn outs in the streets and intersections of Las Vegas. The city remedy to lower the speed limit. I am not sure who came up with this lame idea, but lowering the speed limit is not going to help. These people are already breaking the law. Do you really think lowering the speed limit is going to dissuade the culprits from doing what they are doing?

If local officials and the Metropolitan Police Department really want to do something about this problem, here is the remedy: Anyone caught racing or doing burnouts on the streets — no matter where — should be given a citation, pay a large fine if found guilty, have his or her license suspended for a minimum of one year and have his or her car impounded and registration revoked. This is the only way that anyone will think twice before committing the offense.
