The headline in Monday’s Review-Journal warns of significantly reduced hydropower capacity this fall. The article contains the prediction of a general manager of a rural Nevada utility company that higher utility costs will be passed on to their customers.
Considering the situation at Lake Mead, it is inconceivable to this reader that NV Energy, which purchases a significant amount of energy from Hoover Dam, is still planning to impose demand charges and rate changes to disincentivize rooftop solar generation in Southern Nevada.
It’s my opinion that NV Energy should be looking at the big picture and not just its bottom line.
