For the second time in two days last week, law enforcement in the Las Vegas Valley made a traffic stop that led to the seizure of over 100 pounds of methamphetamine.
Officers found the meth in the trunk of a vehicle following a Friday traffic stop along northbound Interstate 15 near the Craig Road exit, North Las Vegas Police Department spokesperson Roberto Vaquera said Wednesday.
A police K9 named Bolt located the meth, Vaquera said in an email. The Drug Enforcement Administration helped in the investigation, police said.
The bust came two days after the Metropolitan Police Department conducted a traffic stop that led to the discovery of over 100 pounds of meth in a vehicle and the arrest of a 37-year-old man.
Victor Luis Arriolawas in possession of a cache of drugs with a street value of several million dollars, according to Metro and the Las Vegas office of Homeland Security Investigations, or HSI. HSI is the main investigative arm of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security,
The North Las Vegas haul represented the largest narcotics traffic stop seizure in the department’s history. The department spokesman said the case was still being investigated as of Wednesday afternoon and that no other information was available.
In the Metro case, Arriola faces two felony charges, both related to drug trafficking, including a charge for trafficking over 400 grams of an illegal narcotic, court records show.
