A Las Vegas man fled to California after authorities said he fatally stabbed a man his ex-girlfriend brought home from a date.
Ethan Robinson faces an open murder charge in Las Vegas. He is still awaiting extradition from Los Angeles, where authorities arrested him on March 3.
The charges stem from a Dec. 21 stabbing that left Cameronn Carson Jr. 29, dead in the 300 block of East Silverado Ranch Boulevad near Gilespie Street.
After a woman called police, officers found Carson naked inside an apartment, suffering multiple stab wounds to the abdomen.
Police spoke with the woman, Tyra Summers, who told police she and Carson had spent the night drinking and had sex. Later, Summers said, the two fell asleep in her bed, and she awoke around 3:00 a.m. to a struggle between Carson and another person she said she did not see.
Summers told police that she lived alone, according to the report. She also denied being in a relationship and denied knowing anyone who would have been jealous over her relationship with Carson, police said.
But officers found men’s clothing, shoes, cologne bottles, and other items inside the apartment that police said contradicted her statements.
“Tyra refused to provide information on the other subject residing in her apartment,” police said. It is unclear whether Summers has or will face charges in connection with the killing.
Fingerprints lifted from the items matched those of Robinson’s, according to police. Robinson and the woman had also exchanged test messages from October to December, with a break in communications on the day of the stabbing, police said.
The day before, the report said, the couple had been in an argument and broke up after accusing each other of cheating.
“The messages continue throughout the day, and around 1700 hours, Tyra told Ethan not to come back to the apartment,” police said in the report. “Ethan stated, ‘u not finna keep me from coming to my house.’”
Summers replied to the message, sending a picture of two trash bags of what appeared to be Robinson’s clothing sitting on the sidewalk, police said. The stabbing happened hours later.
The report said that three kitchen knives were found inside the apartment — one at the top of the stairs and two inside the bedroom. At least two of the knives had blood on them, according to police.
“The bread knife found was bent and left in the bedroom where it is believed the attack started,” the report said. “A blood smear was found near the knife block in the kitchen, and a second knife was found in the living room, where the struggle continued, showing that someone returned to the kitchen to retrieve another knife.”
Police said they also found Robinson’s DNA in the blood trail coming from the apartment.
