Breakdown: Freshman Trey Washington’s three touchdowns carried Bishop Gorman to a 45-3 rout of Faith Lutheran in its 5A Southern League final. The Gaels, who have a bye this week, will expect to be the No. 1 seed in the Open Division state playoffs in November. Liberty rolled past Desert Oasis 38-0 and plays at Shadow Ridge at 6 p.m. Friday. UNLV commit Kai Cypher had three catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns as Arbor View rolled past Shadow Ridge 49-13 on Friday. The Aggies got two running scores each from Jamar McGee and Kamareion Bell, and host Mojave at 7 p.m. Friday.
Mater East lost a close game, 35-28, at Grant (California), and the Knights host Cadence at 7 p.m. Friday. Coronado knocked off Foothill 34-27 and the Cougars are in a prime spot to qualify to play for the Superintendents Cup in October. Coronado hosts Las Vegas High at 7 p.m. Friday. Sloan Canyon rolled Cadence 50-0 and the Pirates host SLAM! Nevada at 7 p.m. Friday.
Palo Verde remained undefeated with a 22-6 win at Silverado and the Panthers host Basic at 6 p.m. Friday for first place in the Division III East League. Centennial had a bye and hosts Desert Pines at 7 p.m. Friday. Legacy rolled past Canyon Springs 41-0 and hosts Sierra Vista at 7 p.m. Friday. Basic coach Jeff Cahill got this 100th victory as the Wolves defeated Durango 47-20. Basic quarterback Andrew Rodriguez threw three touchdowns — all to Louden Cahill — and added two rushing scores.
