NV Energy officials have been telling us that their new demand charge will not cost most customers more money — and, if it does, the amount will be small and that some people will even have lower bills. I went into the NV Energy website under my account. Low and behold, the company’s estimates my costs will be an extra $160 per year.
Everyone who has an account should go in and find out how much their bill is going to go up. Utility officials say that those who have solar are going to pay more. They are not the only ones.
This is a money grab. NV Energy is counting on us to be ignorant and assuming we can’t add or subtract. I cannot believe that the Public Utilities Commission allowed this to occur.
