President Donald Trump’s Sept. 4 comments on his war against Iran being “small potatoes” reflects his disdain and disregard for the loss of 18 American service personnel and the wounding of reportedly more than 700 other troops. His comments about the deployments not being long enough also provide insight into the value he places on the men and women who serve this country. How would Mr. Trump like to be confined aboard a ship in the middle of the ocean for nine months?
Because he can’t figure out how to end the war in Iran, his sacrifice is to play golf most weekends, costing taxpayers more than $150 million and counting. His main interests are devoted to developing a golf course in Washington, D.C., remodeling buildings, arches and reflecting pools and grifting off his presidency.
He sacrifices nothing. He serves only one person: himself.
