I retired from the New York Police Department 26 years ago. I was a first responder to the terror attacks on 9/11. To say I feel betrayed by the people of New York City is an understatement. I saw the misery and devastation. Many of us worked the mourning platform where the families of victims came to view Ground Zero.
We know what the terrorists did to thousands of people. They took the lives of fathers, mothers, sons and daughters. People are still dying from the toxins we breathed during the devastation. The thanks we received for our sacrifice was Zohran Mamdani, the terrorist-supporting mayor of NYC. The man who believes we deserved 9/11. He added insult to injury by signing a 9/11 proclamation and giving the pen to an attorney who defended the terrorists who planned the Pentagon attack.
Americans have short-term memories. Kids in college don’t even know about 9/11. Insulating our kids from the reality of the attacks means the heroes and their sacrifices are forgotten. The cops, firemen and civilians who perished deserve a place in history.
