Vice President Vance’s Las Vegas stop to lead to air, road traffic disruptions

Vice President JD Vance will travel to Las Vegas on Monday leading to air and road traffic disruptions.

Vance is scheduled to speak Monday night at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s Annual Leadership Summit at The Venetian on the Strip.

A temporary flight restriction for VIP movement was issued on Saturday by the Federal Aviation Administration for the airspace above Southern Nevada, effective between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Flight restrictions for VIP movement are commonly issued when the president or vice president travel to different areas.

The flight restriction running through Tuesday morning suggests that Vance will stay overnight in Las Vegas.

Travelers should expect ground stops at Harry Reid International Airport when Air Force Two arrives and departs.

When Vance lands Monday afternoon and presumably heads to The Venetian, motorists should brace for temporary halts to traffic on area roadways as the vice president’s motorcade travels from Reid airport to the resort.

Area roads and freeways that could be affected by the movement of Vance’s motorcade include the Airport Connector, 215 Beltway, Interstate 15, Spring Mountain Road, Las Vegas Boulevard, Tropicana Avenue, University Center Drive and Paradise Road. Local law enforcement officials routinely temporarily block roads that president and vice president motorcades travel on, leading to traffic backups.

Las Vegas Valley motorists should expect the temporary road closures both on Monday afternoon when Vance arrives and Tuesday morning when Vance will likely depart from Southern Nevada.
