SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The magical run for Paseo Verde is over.

The Henderson team that clicked on all cylinders throughout its run in Williamsport met its end against Curacao in the Little League World Series championship game, losing 11-2 at Lamade Stadium on Sunday.

It’s the second year in a row that a team from Nevada has represented the United States in the final of the tournament, only to fall short. Summerlin South lost last year to Chinese Taipei.

Curacao right fielder Jaymiell Martina broke a 2-2 tie with a two-out, two-run double to right-center field in the top of the fourth inning.

It was the first time in 21 innings that Paseo Verde trailed.

This is Curacao’s first world championship since 2004. It has made the final in four of the last six tournaments.

Martina was the reason Curacao reached the title game. He pitched 5⅔ innings and struck out 12 in the International championship against Japan on Saturday.

Catcher Maddox Bryan had a two-run single in the bottom of the second to give Paseo Verde a 2-0 lead. Bryan, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI on Saturday in the U.S. championship, had eight RBIs for the tournament.

Starting pitcher Payton Hinsen had a strong first two innings, but gave up a tying two-run single during a 32-pitch third inning.

Hinsen pitched three innings in his first start of the tournament, striking out four and walking one.

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
