NV Energy is requesting to lower rates for Southern Nevada customers.
The utility announced Wednesday it had filed to decrease rates for Southern Nevada customers with the Public Utilities Commission. According to a press release, the new rates would be effective Oct. 1 and decrease NV Energy’s annual revenue by around $100.2 million.
The typical residential customer’s monthly bill will decrease by around 3.6 percent, or $5.01 per month, the company said. On average, all customer rate classes will see a 4.1 percent decrease.
NV Energy adjusts customer rates quarterly to reflect actual cost of fuel and purchased power as energy and natural gas costs fluctuate throughout the year.
“Keeping energy affordable while maintaining a safe and reliable electric system is one of our highest priorities,” said Brandon Barkhuff, president and CEO of NV Energy. “As fuel and energy market costs change, these periodic adjustments help make sure customers benefit when those costs decline.”
Here are the adjusted rates:
- Residential single-family: 3.6 percent decrease, around $5.01 decrease per month
- Residential multifamily: 4 percent decrease, around $3.14 decrease per month
- General Service: 3.95 percent decrease, around $3.00 decrease per month
