Good luck getting your hands on these cinnamon rolls.
Boasting over 111,000 followers on Instagram and 75,000 on Facebook, Las Vegas-based Mama Llama Bakery has gone viral for its “center bite cinnamon rolls.”
Run by mother and Las Vegas resident Lindsay Skolnik, her cinnamon roll “drops” have thousands virtually queuing to get their hands on them. The rolls are made from scratch, organic, with no seed oils, and make for social media’s most coveted baked good at the moment.
“I tried… but failed!” said Lisa Smith in a Facebook post on Tuesday. “Over 5,000 people in waiting room to order these!”
Skolnik didn’t respond to a request for comment.
How Mama Llama Bakery started
It all started with a pregnancy craving.
“I’m a stay-at-home mom, and we’re on one income, and I was craving cinnamon rolls. Both of my pregnancies,” said Skolnik in a June 27 Instagram post.
She was buying Annie’s Organic Cinnamon Rolls, but didn’t like how they had seed oils in them. So, she started making her own.
“It started with one recipe, and then I was like, I don’t like it,” said Skolnik in the Instagram post. “I would tweak it, and then I would tweak it, and then my husband was like, ‘You gotta stop tweaking it. Like these are really good. I was like, ‘No, I’ve got to tweak it more.’”
After many “tweaks”, she got it to where she liked it and, according to her Instagram, Skolnik started her “microbakery” around April of this year.
It started slow, then all at once. Her Instagram slowly gained traction, until the likes climbed into the thousands. Then a video from July 1 of her making her cinnamon rolls went viral.
It amassed over 300,000 likes and thousands of comments of people trying to get their hands on the doughy, gooey rolls.
“I am a mess,” said Skolnik in the post from June 27. “I’m very grateful for you guys. I feel so blessed. I can’t believe I’m crying right now.”
Now, her Instagram videos of her making the viral rolls have hundreds of thousands of likes.
How to get your hands on Mama Llama’s cinnamon rolls
Getting a Mama Llama cinnamon roll is about as hard as winning the lottery. If you’re looking to get your hands (and mouths) on the rolls, here’s how to do it.
Mama Llama Bakery takes orders off Hotplate, a website that helps small food businesses with online ordering and pickup.
According to the Mama Llama Bakery Hotplate, “drops” are released randomly throughout the week, to “keep things fair.”
To make sure you don’t miss one, sign up for text alerts. The rolls are baked in small batches and pickup days change week to week, so when you get that text it’s go time.
Don’t be disappointed if you can’t snag one. Mama Llama Bakery also sells the recipe and baking guide on her website for $24.99, as well as an online masterclass for $87.
