Raiders add defensive end, linebacker, receiver with camp set to start

The Las Vegas Raiders made some changes to their roster the day before reporting for training camp.

With players set to check in Tuesday and practice set to begin Wednesday, the Raiders signed defensive end Patrick Johnson, linebacker Buddy Johnson and wide receiver Deven Thompkins, they announced Monday afternoon. In corresponding transactions, they released wide receiever Jonathan Brady, linebacker Chris Thomas and defensive tackle Laki Tasi.

Patrick Johnson, 27, was a seventh-round drafted pick in 2021 by the Philadelphia Eagles, for whom he played in five of his six seasons. In 70 games (including 12 in 2024 for the New York Giants, he has 47 tackles and a sack — mostly playing special teams.

Buddy Johnson, 27, was a fourth-round pick in 2021 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 33 games, including stints with the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts, for whom he played in 2025, he has 28 tackles while also primarily serving as a special teamer.

Thompkins, 26, debuted in 2022 undrafted for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 36 games — including seven apiece for the Carolina Panthers (2024) and Atlanta Falcons (2025) — he has 42 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown.

Brady and Thomas are undrafted rookies. Tasi in his second season by way of the NFL’s International Player Pathway.
