A strong postseason run came to an end Thursday as Summerlin South was eliminated by Northern California with a 2-1 loss in the championship game of the Little League Softball West Region Tournament at San Bernardino, California.
Workhorse starter Raelyn Lingenfelter looked strong in every inning except the fourth, when the California team (4-0) scored a pair of runs on three consecutive singles.
The Nevada team thought it had scored two runs to take the lead in the top of the sixth inning, but Summerlin South was called for runner’s interference by baserunner moving from second base to third with two outs, ending the game.
A win would have resulted in a trip to the Little League Softball World Series beginning Aug. 2.
