Reflection Bay Golf Club at Lake Las Vegas has become far more than an award-winning golf destination. Over the course of its 25-plus-year history, the Jack Nicklaus Signature Design course has quietly built one of Southern Nevada’s most comprehensive charitable event programs, hosting hundreds of nonprofit golf tournaments and offering hands-on guidance that transforms first-time organizers into confident, successful fundraisers.
From well-established foundations seeking a signature annual event to grassroots nonprofits that have never planned a golf tournament before, Reflection Bay has developed a reputation as a turnkey partner for organizations looking to turn a great idea into meaningful impact.
“What separates Reflection Bay from other tournament venues is the depth of involvement our team provides,” said Jon Openshaw, general manager. “Our staff members work alongside nonprofit clients throughout the entire process, from the initial conversation about their fundraising goals, through logistics, sponsorship structure, day-of execution and post-event follow-up.”
Openshaw said one of Reflection Bay’s priorities is supporting both local and national nonprofit organizations to help them raise funds for their programs.
“Our team is widely versed in what it takes to organize charitable tournaments from start to finish. In comparison to typical venues, we assist throughout the entire duration of the event to help organizations navigate the processes and attendees,” he said.
That commitment has made the club a destination for organizations at every stage of event-planning experience. A nonprofit considering its very first golf tournament will find a team willing to walk them through the fundamentals, whether that’s course formats, sponsorship tiers, auction structures, catering and timeline planning. Repeat clients, meanwhile, benefit from a staff that already knows their goals, their audience and what makes their event work year after year.
Reflection Bay’s charitable event legacy stretches back to 1998, when the course opened as the first public resort Jack Nicklaus Signature Design course in Nevada.
For a decade, the course served as the nationally televised home of the Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge, a professional event uniting players from the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour and Champions Tour, raising millions for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. That professional-level experience set the foundation for a culture of event excellence that continues today.
Since that era, Reflection Bay has hosted hundreds of charitable tournaments benefiting organizations including the Epilepsy Foundation, Keep Memory Alive, Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada, Discovery Children’s Museum Las Vegas and several student golf organizations.
Among the club’s most prominent partnerships is the LEAP Celebrity Golf Invitational, which benefits the Epilepsy Foundation and has been held at Reflection Bay for six consecutive years. Hosted by actor and comedian John O’Hurley and two-time World Series champion pitcher Josh Beckett, the two-day event has raised more than $1.3 million since its 2019 inception, drawing celebrities, athletes and business leaders committed to advancing epilepsy care and research. In one standout year, this single tournament at the club raised more than $400,000 to support epilepsy research and treatment.
The story of Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada illustrates how transformative the Reflection Bay partnership can be. Dedicated to preserving affordable housing for low-income homeowners who are seniors, veterans and people with disabilities across the Las Vegas Valley, the area nonprofit turned to Reflection Bay to launch its Swing FORE! Safe Homes Golf Tournament.
“Reflection Bay made the entire process manageable, even for an organization new to this type of fundraiser,” said Bob Cleveland of Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada. “Their team walked us through every step, from the format to the sponsorships to the day-of logistics. We were able to focus on our mission and our donors because Reflection Bay had everything else handled. The results have been outstanding.”
The Swing FORE! Safe Homes tournament has surpassed its fundraising goals, reflecting the power of pairing a compelling cause with a world-class venue and a team that knows how to deliver an exceptional event experience. The 2026 tournament is scheduled for Sept. 8 at Reflection Bay Golf Club. Golfers can find additional information online at reflectionbaygolf.com.
