The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after a woman was found on a sidewalk dead early Thursday morning in the east Las Vegas Valley.
Police said in a news release that at about 3:14 a.m. Thursday, LVMPD Communications received a report of an unresponsive woman lying on the sidewalk in the 1200 block of North Eastern Avenue.
Responding officers located the woman, who was lying on the ground with “unknown facial injuries.”
Medical personnel pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
“With assistance from the coroner investigator and a close examination of the body, a secondary wound was located that appeared to be a gunshot wound,” police said in the release.
The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
