Canada is out of the World Cup after Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Morocco. But Canadians are still all in on a foreign currency exchange program at a trio of downtown Las Vegas casinos.
Circa, the D Las Vegas and Golden Gate casinos said that more than 75,000 Canadians have visited the properties since they launched the “At Par” promotion in January. The program, available through Aug. 31, treats the Canadian dollar as equal to the U.S. dollar on select purchases. As of 2:30 p.m. Monday, the current CAD/USD exchange rate was $0.70.
The promotion has generated more than $15 million in slot coin-in and resulted in more than 7,500 hotel room nights, according to a recent news release.
“The response from our Canadian guests has exceeded our expectations,” said Derek Stevens, owner and CEO of Circa, the D Las Vegas and Golden Gate, in a statement. “Welcoming more than 75,000 visitors in just a few months shows there’s a real appetite for experiences that deliver outstanding value without sacrificing the excitement, hospitality and entertainment that make downtown Las Vegas special.
“We’re thrilled to continue rolling out the red carpet for our neighbors from the north through the end of August.”
Guests do not need to be staying at Circa, the D Las Vegas or Golden Gate to participate in eligible hotel, gaming, beverage or entertainment offers.
Canada has traditionally been Las Vegas’ largest international market. According to data from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Canadians accounted for an average of 44 percent of all global air travelers into the city between 2019 and 2024. Las Vegas tourism officials say Canadian visitation was down 20 percent in 2025, and airline seat capacity for flights coming from Canada was down 30 percent.
The “At Par” program, executives say, is designed to remove a key financial barrier and give Canadian travelers another incentive to visit Southern Nevada.
Hotel guests paying with Canadian currency will be charged the listed U.S. dollar rate without any exchange rate applied, the casinos said. Guests with valid Canadian identification can receive up to $500 in slot promotional play redeemable at Club One players clubs across the three downtown Las Vegas casino properties. Participating bars, including Bar Canada at the D, Overhang at Circa and Bar Prohibition! at Golden Gate, are also offering select beverages at par.
Caesars to skip earnings call with quarterly numbers
Caesars Entertainment Inc. will release quarterly financials later this month but will forego an accompanying earnings call hosted by public companies as the gaming giant prepares to go private.
Caesars, which operates eight casino properties on the Strip, will report its second-quarter earnings on July 28, according to a news release. However, the Reno-based company said there will not be an earnings call, which typically gives analysts and investors a chance to hear directly from high-level executives.
Caesars is being acquired by Houston-based Fertitta Entertainment Inc. for $17.6 billion, an all-cash deal announced in late-May and has yet to be finalized. Fertitta Entertainment is a holding company founded by billionaire businessman Tilman Fertitta, owner of the NBA’s Houston Rockets and Landry’s Inc., the restaurant and hospitality conglomerate that includes such brands as Golden Nugget casinos, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Chart House and Morton’s The Steakhouse.
Once the proposed merger has been finalized, Caesars’ common stock will no longer be listed, and the company will become a private entity.
Casino sets bingo record
Foxwoods broke the Guinness World Record for the largest jackpot payout for a single game of bingo. The massive Connecticut casino awarded a $440,000 jackpot on July Fourth during its “40th Anniversary Firecracker Bingo” event that featured more than $1 million in total prizes.
The special event marked the 40-year anniversary of bingo at Foxwoods, which featured more than 3,000 players in its High Stakes Bingo Hall, which was opened July 5, 1986 by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.
According to Guinness World Records, the largest previous payout for a game of bingo at a single bingo house was 105,000 pounds, the equivalent of approximately $139,000, which was set last year at Buzz Bingo Cricklewood in London.
South Point is hosting a summer $2 million bingo extravaganza July 17 and 18, and July 21 and 22. But the biggest payout for a single game is $50,000. The off-Strip casino also is hosting a fall $2 million bingo extravaganza Oct. 30 and 31, and Nov. 3 and 4.
Likewise, the Plaza hosted a $250,000 Super Bingo event Saturday and Sunday, but the single biggest jackpot was $40,000.
