The Grapevine Fire is estimated at 26,464 acres and is now 78 percent contained, the Bureau of Land Management said Friday.
Firefighters continue to strengthen and secure containment features across the fire, located in Lincoln County’s Caliente area, as conditions trend warmer and drier. Crews remain focused on patrolling the perimeter, identifying residual heat sources, and reinforcing lines ahead of afternoon winds.
Caliente is about 140 miles north of Las Vegas.
Crews continue utilizing both direct and indirect suppression tactics where heat remains, including securing line, extinguishing hotspots, and addressing interior heat pockets.
Suppression repair work is also progressing, with firefighters and heavy equipment operators seeding disturbed areas with approved native seed mixes, mulching vegetative debris to improve soil contact, restoring dozer lines and roadways, and continuing hand rehabilitation in locations where mechanized equipment cannot be used.
Weather and fire behavior
Temperatures continue to warm, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s across the fire area. Relative humidity may drop below 10 percent, and southerly to southwest winds will increase in the afternoon, producing elevated fire weather conditions.
Closures
Beaver Dam State Park remains closed due to ongoing firefighting operations and will stay closed until conditions allow for safe public access. Eagle Valley Reservoir reopened to boating.
A Fuels and Fire Behavior Advisory remains in effect through July 10 due to significantly drier-than-average fuel conditions that can support rapid fire growth, long‑range spotting, and fires that are difficult to contain.
