A motorcyclist was killed Thursday evening in an east Las Vegas crash.
The unidentified motorcyclist was a 21-year-old male from Las Vegas, police said. The crash happened at 5:36 p.m. at the intersection of South Lamb Boulevard and East Karen Avenue.
In a statement, the Metropolitan Police Department said “a stolen 2008 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R motorcycle was traveling north on Lamb. A 2021 Kia Soul was stopped facing south in the middle of the intersection and was making a left turn on Lamb to go east on Karen Avenue.”
The crash happened when the “motorcycle struck the right side of the Kia at the intersection as the Kia was making a left turn.” The rider was ejected from the Ninja and died at the scene, police said.
The driver of the Kia remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, police said. The driver was then transported to Sunrise Hospital with minor injuries.
This crash marks the 55th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
