
The Sahara Las Vegas already offers free valet and self-parking. Now the historic Strip hotel-casino has some exclusive summer offers for Las Vegas residents.
A locals staycation hotel offer features no resort fees and all-in rates starting at $64 per night. The offer is available to book now through Aug. 31 for stays through Sept. 1.
Las Vegas locals receive complimentary admission to the Sahara pool and can get up to 20 percent off cabana rentals Monday through Thursday.
Local residents also receive free admission to the Sahara’s Monday movie nights series, which takes place poolside weekly through Sept. 7. Locals also can get buy one, get one free tickets to select performances of the Sahara summer concert series at the pool.
Other discounts for Las Vegas residents include 50 percent off of steaks every Tuesday at Balla Italian Soul and 50 percent off of all bottles of wine every Wednesday at Balla Italian Soul.
Locals get 25 percent off of dining at all of Sahara’s restaurants, excluding Maroon and Starbucks, and they get 30 percent off of tickets to Magic Mike Live.
Casino Collectibles Show
The world’s largest casino collectibles show opens its doors Thursday at South Point Casino.
The three-day event is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, when admission is $10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, when admission is $5 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, when admission is free.
Hosted by the Casino Collectibles Association, the event will be at South Point’s Exhibit Hall D.
Collectibles of all kinds will be on display in the aisles of the show with gaming chips of all denominations from various casinos, gaming tokens, dice, slot cards, playing cards, matchbooks, ashtrays, menus, dinnerware, swizzle sticks, casino photos, postcards, signs, table felt – just about anything a casino could put its name on.
In addition to the displays of collectibles, four free educational seminars will be conducted throughout the show in the Joshua Room, across the hall from the exhibit hall. They include:
-“The Legacy of Collecting and the Importance of the Neon Museum Sign Collection,” with Aaron Berger, executive director and CEO of The Neon Museum, who will discuss the importance of the museum’s sign collection to the history of Las Vegas, Thursday at 8 a.m.
-“The Signs of Change for Tomorrow’s Casino Industry,” with Vital Vegas founder Scott Roeben discussing how the casino industry is changing and why, Thursday at 3 p.m.
-“The ChipGuide: World’s Largest Catalog of Casino Chips and Collectibles,” with Charles Kaplan, chairman of the Casino Collectibles Association’s Museum of Gaming History and the administrator of the ChipGuide, the world’s largest catalog of casino collectibles featuring 324,000 items from 32,000 casinos, and how to use the catalog, Friday at 8 a.m.
-“How the Red-Light District was a Sign of the Times in Old Las Vegas,” with Jami Rodman, author of “The Las Vegas Madam” and proprietor of Las Vegas Guided Tours, a boutique company known for immersive, research-driven tours that bring to life the story of Block 16 — Las Vegas’ Red-Light District, Friday at 3 p.m.
