Nevada Secretary of State Zach Conine, a Democrat, aired a political ad in the recent primary election in which he plays “whack-a-mole” using “Trump” heads. In the ad, he repeatedly hits these “Trump” heads with a mallet as he goes through his “bad Trump” narrative. In the background there are children laughing as they watch him do this.
Besides being in bad taste, and not saying anything about Mr. Conine’s qualifications, I think ads such as this glorify and promote political violence. Isn’t this guy now running for attorney general of Nevada? Wasn’t he trying to become the chief law enforcement officer for Nevada? Promoting political violence — even in jest — should not be considered acceptable behavior for any candidate for public office.
