A Las Vegas woman has been arrested after police said she jumped into The Venetian fountain on the Las Vegas Strip, grabbed a duck named “Daffy” and abused it.

Destiny Reyes, 29, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of willful maiming or torturing an animal.

A Metropolitan Police Department arrest report for Reyes shows she was taken into custody after Venetian security called police, reporting a woman had jumped into the fountain pool at 1:29 p.m. Tuesday and grabbed a female juvenile duck named “Daffy.”

Police said they then made contact with Reyes and found her still in possession of Daffy. The duck appeared to have injuries to a wing. Police obtained surveillance video of Reyes on the Strip with Daffy in hand. One photo, police said, showed her shaking the duck.

At one point, the videos show “Destiny loses control of ‘Daffy’ and the duck falls, impacting the concrete,” police said.

Police described Reyes as belligerent and uncooperative when they tried to interview her.

“Destiny showed no remorse and regard for ‘Daffy,’” police said. “She took this animal out of her natural place of stay and put her through stress and pain for no reason at all.”

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
