I was happy to see the Review-Journal’s May 19 editorial concerning the financial benefit of a college degree. What is overlooked in this calculation, however, are the less quantifiable but deeply significant benefits of a college education, such as developing a deeper understanding of culture, history, science and your personal relationship to world events. Those things enrich a person’s life in ways that transcend financial benefits.
