We are all concerned with the current price of gasoline. Seems as if some of us are more concerned than others.
I’m around town most days, and I walk a few miles every morning to start my day. Even with gas near $5 per gallon, I see no changes in the driving patterns of most drivers. They still speed on the freeways and on surface streets its jackrabbit starts and stops between lights or signs. When I walk in the mornings, I go through a shopping center where there’s always a few people, even when the weather is perfect, sitting in their car with the windows up and the engine running. People do love their private microenvironment.
With a little effort, we could all save gasoline and therefore lower the price. As an added benefit, it would help keep the air a bit cleaner. I also think I’m living in a dream if I believe the American people will do anything that requires them to be the least bit inconvenienced.
