LETTER: Cap gasoline taxes

The state (and federal government) should put a cap on fuel taxes so the market-sensitive prices do not inflate government coffers and deflate consumers’ wallets. Between the two, we pay almost $1 per gallon. Cap the tax at the $2 gallon of gasoline cost, and the state would have a constant, determined revenue stream, and drivers would pay less at the pump.
